At times the dark circles can be as a result of a poor sleeping pattern. If one sleeps for at least eight hours and the circles do not go away, then there is a serious problem. Dermatologist explains that even though most people relate the dark patches to lack of proper sleeping, in most cases, it has nothing to do with sleep. However, if one gets all the sleep out of the body, the eyes will not be puffy. This can disguise the dark patches a little.

The sun is a leading cause of the dark patches around the eyes. One should be careful not to expose the skin to the hot rays of the sun especially between mid day and four o’clock in the evening. If one must go out at such an hour, it is advisable to use a hat and a pair of sunglasses. Melanin, the color pigment of the skin, reacts with the sun and it turn dark upon intense exposure. If the dark circles are already present, proper protection will prevent further damage. There are some sun block eye creams that can be bought from beauty shops.

Stress can affect the skin color. To keep the face glowing, one should rest well, and this includes sleeping. When one is sleepy, the face looks whitish. This makes the patches more outstanding. There are some cases where one has to be extra careful. For instance, in pregnancy, too much straining will affect you skin. Sick persons are at a risk of developing these patches if they do not rest. The best way to handle such a situation is to sleep till the body feels refreshed. However, the fact that some people have to wake up early in the morning on daily basis should not be blamed for the dark patches. One should sleep early so that by morning, the body will have relaxed.

Some of the dark circles are caused by an allergic reaction. Some persons who have been under certain medications for a long time can also develop this problem. In a case where the reaction is itchy, any rubbing will worsen the situation. One should see a doctor immediately. Proper medication should help with the situation. Once one realizes the cause of the allergy, it is advisable that one avoids it as much as possible. There is no cure for allergies. These reactions can only be controlled.

Age can be a major cause for these dark circles. As the skin loses its elasticity, it is exposed to tanning naturally around the sensitive areas such as the eyes. The best way to solve this is to care of the slin accordingly. It has to be moisturized and well cleaned.
