When we are choosing a flower garden design for our yards, the right garden accessories and plants have to set the right mood that we try to achieve. There are different styles of gardening. These styles may be derived from other country’s traditional styles and elements of gardening.

Here are some of the garden styles that are mostly chosen by lots of gardeners:

  • Asian

The traditional Asian landscape design consists of wild varieties of planting, designing and spiritual tastes. This reveals the real culture of the Asian countries. Most of the Asian gardening principles came from the Chinese and the Japanese people. These gardening styles have a certain sacred feel in them. The space within these gardens is considered as the world outside profane. Most Asian gardens have a lake or an island design in it. Like the Japanese gardens, they create islands in them which they say symbolizes the dwellings of immortal spirits. Everything inside an Asian garden symbolizes something. Starting from the stone, the water, the sand, the islets, and even each kinds of plants planted in it have some sort of symbol.

Some of Asian gardens a quite spacious because there can be a lot to see in ti. Asian gardens even have pine trees in them. Smaller gardens contain smaller or lower trees. Though the area can be small, all the essential materials inside an Asian garden has be in it. That is what the Asians are good at; the way of fitting I everything within a limited space.

  • Cottage

Cottage gardens started back in the 19th century. These gardens are the ones with a very romantic feel. It is inspired by the paintings of famous artists from long ago. It has the idea of apple trees, old-fashioned flowers, roses, window boxes, and other berry bushes. Cottage gardens are the ones we see in some commercial gardens where most garden weddings are held. It is a very good place for parties and other romantic occasions. A lot of people want to have this kind of style in their own home gardens. Most of the royal residences have a cottage style garden from their backyards.

  • Formal gardens

Formal gardens looks more like traditional houses. Their traditional style echoes and embellishes the home’s architecture. Formal gardens are influenced by both Asian and Cottage garden styles. Formal gardens are known to have a symmetrical feature init with the main axis branching with the other axes. This is most seen in front of the house. It can be on the front door, the balcony, and the terrace. Formal gardens are what we commonly see in the western countries. It is much simpler and easier to build than those of the first two garden styles. Most people who are starting to design a home sometimes think about having a formal garden first, so that the design of the house will be relevant with the design of their garden.

Those are the styles and elements of the gardens we can choose from. All these garden styles will add up to the beauty of our homes.
