Buying a car from a private individual is a lot easier than with a salesman. Direct buying from the owner will cost less and the negotiation would be easier.

More often than not, we tend to get a long haggling with car salesmen. They get to interrupt our decisions and even change our budgets with their selling. Buying a car directly from the owner will give us a chance to avoid salesmen. This way we can have our new car in no time.

The following are the instructions on how to buy a used car from a private individual:

  • Step 1

First is to contact out credit union and obtain the latest rate information. We have to speak with them about our automobile goals. It helps to get suggestions and tips from them so that we know the steps and tips on buying a car from the owner. This will also help us determine our spending limit so it is good for people with a certain budget in purchasing a new car.

  • Step 2

The next step would be the searching for a vehicle. We can browse on the internet for some information about people who are selling their cars. The local newspaper classified ads are also a good option to go looking for. Information from these will even give us idea with how much the vehicles cost.

  • Step 3

After choosing a few options of cars, the next step would be to take a look at the vehicles. We have to check whether the car is still in good condition. We need to check the tires, the engines, the interiors and everything. We may even want to test drive the car from the street and the highway. This way we can be sure that the car is really in good condition.

  • Step 4

When we already found the car we really want, we need to be ready to leave without the car. Sometimes, we have to show the sellers that we are not that interested so that they may give us discounts. This is a very good tip. We need not to show excitement when we already saw the one we need. It is better to negotiate if the seller notices that we are not satisfied with their cars even though we really are.

  • Step 5

After finding the car we like, we have to have it checked with a professional mechanic first. This way we can know whether it has any problems. Sometimes even though the car looks fine enough, there are still problems with it. We have to coordinate with the seller to get the car checked by a mechanic. If the seller is pretty honest, he would always be willing to agree with us.

  • Step 6

When all the inspections are done and the car is sure to be fine, we now go to the final negotiation with the seller. The seller will tell us if ever there is still room for negotiations. This will give us the chance to follow our limited budget. We may first give a price lower than our initial budget. This way, if the seller doesn 19t agree, we still have some spare so we can fill up the remaining amount.
