Painting And Refurnishing Ceramic Tiles
Refurnishing of our home ceramic tiles will give our kitchen and bathrooms a good makeover. It will restore the luster and shine of the rooms. We can easily do this project on our own for us to save a lot from home renovators.

Painting and refurnishing ceramic tiles is one good way to redecorate our kitchens and bathrooms with a budget. It will save us from replacing the ceramic tiles entirely. With just following simple procedures, we can achieve and finish this home improvement project on our own. The following are the steps on how to pain and refurnish ceramic tiles:
- Step 1
First thing we should do is to put on our gloves, a dust mask, and also our goggles. We need to make sure that we wear protective gears before working with harsh chemicals. We also need to make sure that the room is well-ventilated. This way, we can work comfortably inside the room.
- Step 2
Our second step would be cleaning the tiles with a bathroom cleaner and a scrub brush. This will remove the soap scum, calcium deposits and body oils from the tiles. After that, we wash it with warm water and then let it completely dry. Thoroughly cleaning the tiles before painting it is very important. This is because the paint will not stick with the tiles when they are unclean.
- Step 3
Third step would be scrubbing the tiles with a scrub hydrofluoric. For this procedure, we use the scouring pad to etch the tiles. After that, we leave the hydrofluoric acid for a couple of minutes before washing it off with the bicarbonate soda and water.
- Step 4
Our next step would be removing the old fixtures soap dishes or any broken tiles. This is done by cutting into the grout by using a grout saw. After that, we pry loose it using a flat chisel.
- Step 5
The next thing we should do is insert the new fixtures or tiles into the wall. We do this by applying mortar on the back. After that, we let the tiles set and dry for at least 24 hours and applying grout around its edges. We then smooth off excess grout with a damp sponge and then let it dry after.
- Step 6
What we need to do next is to cover up the surrounding fixtures and the walls with plastic tarps and masking tape. This is to prevent any unwanted water spills.
- Step 7
After that, we fill primer into the sprayer gun and then spray it onto the surface of the tiles. We let the tiles dry with the use of a heating gun for about thirty minutes.
- Step 8
The next step would be mixing the tile surface coating with the desired paint color and then pour it in the sprayer.
- Step 9
For this step, we would spray three light coats of the surface coatings for the tiles. We let each layer of coat dry before spraying the next coat.
- Step 10
Our last and final step is to squeeze caulk into any gaps, especially the areas near the base and the tiles. After that we smooth out the area with a damp sponge, and then let it dry again for 24 hours.
