Writing An Essay
Essays are writings which range from having five paragraphs to having twenty pages or more. It covers any topics. Essays are simply a way of explaining and attempting to deliver our point of view.

The word ‘essay’ is derived from a French word essayer which mean ‘to attempt’ or ‘to try’. This explains its definition of trying to convey a certain topic to the reader. Anyone can write an essay about any topic. We probably remember doing essays in school to explain a subject the teacher gives us. This comes with any other essays. They should be informative.
Here are the ways to help us write a good essay:
- Define context
This is when the essay requires some rules. The teacher may sometimes give instructions on how the essay should be. For example, the when the teacher wants a certain length for the essay, the format of the pages, and to whom the essay will be addressed to, they should all be followed. Even one great essay can fail to deliver its point when it does not follow rules. If the essay has a required rule, it should always be the thing we should concentrate on.
- Choosing a topic
Oftentimes, this is decided for us. For instance we are writing an essay for school, we have to write based on the given topics by the teacher. But if we are writing for our own, then we should set a major topic for the whole essay. This will be the main guide for our writing. We cannot write an essay that contains multiple subjects. It should only rotate with a single topic. No matter how long the essay will get, it should always maintain its subject until the very end. This way, our readers will not be confused on what we are trying to convey them.
- Gather information
Before finally writing the essay, we first should have all the needed information. All the information should be true and correct. In certain aspects of an essay, they should all be factual. Remember that we are trying to inform, and not deceive.
- Read
As we write our essay, we must read through it. This way we can see if the first paragraph or sentence relates to the next one. We can notice if there should be any revising needed for our essay if we read it along as we write it. We have to take note that if we are not happy with what we have written, so would be our readers.
- Proofread, revise
Finally, we should proofread our finished essay. This way, we can revise it whenever we feel unsatisfied. An essay’s success is when the reader enjoys and is being informed correctly by the writer. Proofreading is the correcting of any errors that has been made when writing the essay. These can be the spelling, punctuations, grammar, etc. Proofreading is what makes it all perfect in the end. Some writers even hire professional proofreaders to proofread their works.
