Our cats can sometimes get worms. To avoid this, we need to do the proper procedures and protection for our cats.

Having worms in cats is not only harmful for pets, but also to our family. The bacteria from the cat’s waste can spread around the house, and it can get into us. That is really dangerous for everyone’s health. To avoid that from happening, here are the steps we can do to prevent it:

Cat Worm Prevention
Cat Worm Prevention

First thing is we take our cat to a veterinarian and have it checked. We need to know whether it has worms inside before we give some cures to it. A complete cat examination has been done and we have to request for a fecal specimen to be checked also. This will determine if the intestinal parasites (if there are any) can be administered by any specific medications.

Once it is found that our cat really has parasites inside it, we have to make sure that we keep away from it as much as possible. Direct contact with our cats when they have worms in them may pass their worm eggs and larva into us. Also, if they get into the dirt, the soil will be left out with bacteria and eggs from the worms. If possible, we need to keep the cats in a closed place, only while it is being cured until all the worms have been removed.

Cats can get worms from eating rotten rats, birds, and anything that is infested. We need to make sure they don’t eat anything that is rotting so that they won’t have any worms in them. Also, if we have multiple cats, and only one has been infected, and not all them has, we need to keep the worm infected away from the others so that it won’t spread to all.

Sometimes cats also can get these worms from interacting with street cats. So the very thing we can do is keep our cats away from going out of the house and play with other stray cats.

It will also be helpful if we keep the cats treated with anti-flea products to avoid larval and egg stages of worms. Grooming the cat regularly will wash away any signs of bacteria and germs that may cause into worm formations.

The more our cats stay indoors, the more we can keep them away from any of those. We need to reduce or probably entirely control them from going out in the streets. Another thing is to have their stools and wastes checked at least once in two weeks so we will know if they do get any worms and parasites inside them.

Those are all the ways on how we can keep our cats from having worms. If we don’t do them, then our cats will be infested and the germs will eventually spread all over the households infecting other members. This is apparently a very dangerous case, and if it is not cured immediately, we can either get sick and of course our pets, until we have to get rid of them which no one wants to do with their pets.
