Proper Treatment For Cat Bites
Sometimes, we cannot avoid that our pets bite us. Their sudden excitement sometimes can trigger their biting canines without intention. If we ever get bitten by our cats, here are the steps on how to cure them properly.
There are cats that eventually bite their keepers. it happens if they get surprised and their sudden reaction will lead to biting. This is why we must not play rough with our pets. We should not play wild with them or try to scare them. When they get nervous, they think we are trying to harm those and they can fight back. In case that we got bitten by cat bites, we have to make sure that we treat them immediately before it will get infected that we will need a serious medical procedure.

The first initial thing we have to do after getting bitten by a cat is to clean the wound immediately right after the incident. This way the bacteria from the cat bite will not spread deeper into our skin. We can use mild soap with water and wash it thoroughly. After that, we have to treat it with some rubbing alcohol or even hydrogen peroxide.
In case that there is bleeding, we have to put pressure on the wound. This will help close the wound the bleeding to stop. In most cases, there wouldn’t be excessive bleeding only if the cat bits us strongly. Usually, pet cats don not bit that hard.
If the wound is in our hands for example, we have to keep it higher from our heart. That way, the blood flow will slow down and it won’t bleed that fast. After that, we can tie a bandage around the wound.
After that, we have to regularly check for signs of any infections. If there is unusual swelling or redness on the area of the wound, we have to see a doctor immediately. Especially if we get fever within a few days, that means that the infection is already critical, and we should be in the hospital by that time. When we notice these signs, we should not wait any longer. Cats have rabies just like with the dogs. We can be possible of rabies infection if some of the signs have occurred.
If we do get bitten and we got symptoms of infections, we need to take a tetanus shot. This will stop the further spread of the infection in the body. It would probably prescribe by the doctor once we consulted especially if there are already signs of being critical.
The only to avoid all of the infections from happening is to give our cats a rabies vaccine the moment we get the cat into our homes. It will be determined if ever we got bitten if there are still rabies in its saliva. Some cat owners do not worry if their cats bite because they already have rabies shot at hand. It would be easier to cure the rabies of the cat rather than curing the person who has infected with rabies.
