Elementary School Teachers
Being a school teacher has many privileges. And another thing is that elementary school teachers contribute a lot to the society. They help educate children ages 7 until they get into their early teens. This article will tell us some information about being an elementary teacher.

- Elementary schools are ranging from kindergarten through fifth and sixth grade. The teacher’s job and working days will vary depending on what grade he is teaching. Students from lower years go to school within fewer hours compared to the fifth and sixth grade students. The school days on the other hand will depend on what the school district requires.
- Being an elementary teacher means to always arrive at school early. One must be in school at least half an hours before the students arrive. That is why being an early bird is always a must for a teacher. A school will not keep someone that is always late. Before the students’ arrival, all the needed things must all be prepared. That way, there wouldn’t be any wasted time once the school bell rings and classes must then start at hand.
Another thing is that during the end of classes, the teacher will have to stay longer. He needs time to record the day’s activities in his record book so that he can evaluate each of his students’ performance for the day. He might stay up to two hours before finally going home. So a teacher always arrives early and goes home late. It is part of the job.
- Each of the teacher’s days is divided into blocks. This means that there should be a time saying of Pledge of Alliance; which is usually done before the classes start. Another is for taking lunch breaks, and other types of breaks. A teacher must know how to balance his whole day class to do all the activities including the breaks. He must always know how to handle children so they will be following rules that the teacher says.
- In order to maintain the continuity for the students, a teacher is required to follow a schedule. It includes the schedule for the day, in which the teacher will know which time is allotted for a specific subject. Another is a weekly schedule, in which a teacher uses as a guideline for all the activities for a whole week, and then his monthly and yearly schedule for all the lessons. A teacher should always follow the general schedule together with the rest of the elementary school teachers. They cannot just have their own kind of teaching methods.
- With the lower school grades, a teacher must read a story book each day for his students. This will be a kind of break for them during the afternoon. It might take 15 to 20 minutes depending on what kind of book he is reading.
- It is the responsibility of the teacher to always maintain the orderliness of the class as well as his students. He should always know how to handle tough situations and be able to cope with children.
