During the winter season, we just stay inside the house with the kids to keep ourselves warm. We might get bored during these days, and it is better if we make something just to have a little fun. Making snowflake crafts can be a good idea for the winter seasons to prevent us from being bored.

Paper snowflakes are very easy and fun to do. Children will surely love making them while staying inside along the winter season. Even though they cannot go outside and play, they have something fun and exciting to do inside the house.

For this activity, we are going to need colored construction paper, safety scissors, glue sticks, glitter, strings, paper-hole punch, and any leftover craft items like pompoms, beads and doilies. Make sure that you assist the kids in using the scissors to avoid accidents.

Gather all the said materials. This project is great for using up left over craft items such as stickers, stencils, pompoms, etc. Make sure there is enough space to work and begin by choosing a colored construction paper or doily. Doilies make great snowflakes because of the lacy design, however if your kids want to be super creative they can choose any color paper for their snowflake.

Cut a pattern in the paper for the snowflake or allow the child to design one himself. To cut a design into the paper, fold the paper in half and cut into the fold (triangle cuts are easiest for little ones). For a more thorough design, fold the paper in half twice; once creates a rectangle shape, twice condenses it into a smaller square shape. The more slices and shapes that are cut into the paper, the more design it will have. If your children are a bit older, try folding the paper into a triangle shape or begin with a circular piece of paper and fold that in half and begin cutting into it.

Take out the glue sticks, glitter and any other odd and ends you would like to decorate your snowflake with. While you can use regular glue, glue sticks are a lot less messy and won't soak through the paper. Glitter always looks pretty on snowflakes. Kids tend to get heavy-handed with glitter, so once the glue is on and the glitter is poured, lightly shake the snowflake off.

Use the paper-hole punch to place a hole at the tip of the snowflake once they are dry. You then want to thread a piece of string through the hole. The length of the string depends on where you would like to hang it.

Make several snowflakes and attach strings to create a mobile. You can use Popsicle sticks in an X shape or a wire coat hanger to hang the strings from
