Both knowledge and education plays a very important role in our lives. Find out how they are both different from each other in some aspects.

What Is The Difference Between Knowledge And Education

Education and knowledge have some known differences yet in one way or another, both words are interrelated.  The fact is that one would always lead to the other.  One point that we can consider as a difference between the two is that education is a proper process while knowledge is something of an unofficial procedure. Education is acquired through the traditional school or institutions—a classroom based learning at that whereas knowledge on the other hand is obtained or gained from day to day experience. Therefore, education is the procedure of acquiring knowledge from some future purposes and knowledge is about the learning acquired from good education such as wide reading.

Some other points of comparison between education and knowledge are the following:

  • Education is obtained from teachers in school as a student goes everyday to school to learn while knowledge is acquired from personal experiences. In short, there is no need to go to school to have knowledge about something. You are your own teacher as far as the word knowledge is concerned.
  • While education is the process of learning facts and theories from reading materials such as text books and inputs from the instructors, knowledge is about the application of theories and facts in a perosn’s day to day living.
  • Education has predefined set of predefined regulations, rules and curriculum that needs to be strictly followed whereas knowledge knows no boundaries. Gaining knowledge is unlimited. Knowledge is not taught by anyone else but by self effort.
  • If you look it up on the internet or thesaurus, these two words could by synonyms but there is a borderline still between the two. Education is dependent on books, internet and other research materials as knowledge is gained from life experiences.
  • Knowledge is connected to truth about life as education is connected to learning and significant thinking.  There is no use of experimenting as far as knowledge is concerned because knowledge is acquired by actually getting into the realities of life.

This article doesn’t mean to make you choose which one is more important between knowledge and education. Simply, this is a guide to make you understand that one cannot simply be enough without the other. Meaning, education cannot go alone without knowledge and vice versa.  Basing on the differences stated above, I would conclude that education and knowledge must always go hand in hand. If you are fully equipped with all the learning that you have earned from school but don’t have much knowledge about how these things are applied in your day to day living, what’s the use of education?  On the other hand, what’s the use of pure knowledge when you don’t know enough what the truth behind what you have gained through knowledge?
