The earlier you introduce books to children, the better. In fact research shows that reading should start even before birth. Most pregnant women are advised to read to their child while still in their womb as they are already able to hear while still inside mom’s tummy. A mother would know if the baby is listening as he tries to make movements inside. They also calm down when they hear some music and stories.

Before kids start to go to school, we know that it is the parents’ responsibility to teach kids the basics and one of those basics is learning.

Reading books to children is an essential step to building their literacy skills. Exposure to stories and books to children at an early age is a good way of making them develop a love for reading. They love hearing stories out of the pictures and text on the book covers. Reading out loud with complete package—the emotions and actions make them delighted over hearing new stories each and every day. It is advised that parents find a good time of the day to read with their children to set as an example of good habits in reading.

It is believed that children who have been read by their parents come to school with some kind of advanced literacy compared to other kids of their gage. They tend to want to learn more and more. Once learning has already started at home, transition of excitement to learn is very easy.

Reading allows children to learn new things, discover their passions and interests. A parent would know what a child is interested in when he grows up as a child start to choose the kind of books that he want to read. Be aware of what kinds of books your child wants and support his preferences.

When parents read to their children, pathways to their brains are built that promotes intelligence.  It also encourages wider vocabulary of words, increased the ability to focus and develop language skills. They might want to imitate that words that they hear.

Opening up their minds to by reading about different topics helps them to learn about the world around them. It also feeds their imagination. Try reading about travels and the most wonderful places to visit in the world—you would see how fascinated they are and how they seem to imagine themselves going out to those place.

It is amazing how simple reading can provide immediate benefits to children. It does not require too much effort to do so. As a parent, just spare some time of your busy day to read to your children. Most busy parents do it before children’s bedtime. Go ahead and read to your children and see how it works wonders.
