Camping adventure is a form of recreation and escape from dull and drab existence means the temporary but periodic retreat to the out-of-door life. Rousseau in his novel Emile laid emphasis on country life which enables a person to be in direct and intimate contact with nature.

Camping

Country life is simple, charming and unsophisticated and has beauties and attractions of its own. Back in Nature was the slogan he coined for natural and primitive life in the midst of Nature. Nature is an everlasting bubbling fountain of bliss and joy.

Nature has never betrayed the human heart; she lends man from one joy to another. It is in the midst of Nature that man forgets his perplexing cares and worries and becomes one with the Divine Spirit which is found in all objects of Nature-the ocean, the living air and setting sun. Nature is a kind of spiritual link between man and God.

It is true that in the USA, the UK, Switzerland and Germany camping has become part and parcel of the people’s social life. However other counties are now trying to show a keen interest in camping and other outdoor activities as recreation.

In Germany the Wandervogel or Youth Movement made camping in some beauty spot an essential feature of the national life of the Germans.  In England and America camping has become a national habit. The Anglo-Saxon race is adventurous and enterprising and is always on the move in search of new adventure and sensations. They have been pioneers and have explored unheard of regions.

It is due to their migratory habits that they have always liked, like the gypsies, the active outdoor life. The American and the English are fond of temporary encampment in some sylvan spots. The metallic roads, buses, cars and even light trains have encouraged camping among the town people.

Camping is considered now-a-days to be a means of recreation and relaxation especially for the urban people. It is a means of offsetting the detrimental effects of the machine age. Camping affords plenty of fresh pure and invigorating country air which serves as a safe guard against effects of dust, smoke and filth of the city on the general health of the people. There is physical and mental recreation for the over-worked people breaking under the strain of work and fatigue.

Camping now-a-days provides a means of escape from the hard realities of life. While out for camping we need double-poled tents-a double fly, with porch in front, and bath-room behind-iron tent-pegs, poles, cooking pots, crockery, saucepan, tin boxes, leather-covered baskets, thermos bottle, camera, torch, leg bandages, water-proof sheets, tinted spectacles and jack boots.

This paraphernalia is necessary because of hardships involved in procuring things in out-of-the way places cut off from the civilized world.
