The Various Types Of Book Genres

If you are a reading enthusiast you know for sure that there are choices in book genres that you can go around when you pick the next book that you want to read. Do you have a favorite genre of books? When it comes to book genre there are two major groups namely fiction and non-fiction.  Let’s find out what they are and what these type of books has in store for each reader.

Fiction Books

To describe fiction books in simple terms, it is the type of book that is about imagination and make-believes. It could be bases on a true to life story though but for the most part it is the product of the author’s wildest imaginations. The subdivisions of fictional books include romance, mystery and fantasy. Romance fiction is focused on the story about love, life and relationships. Harlequin and Mills and Boons—sound familiar?  This type of book mainly ends with a happy forever scene after all the turmoil that went on in the entire novel. Mostly for women, romance books are best picks. A fantasy type of book on the other hand as a very good example of make-believe book. The author imagines things out of the ordinary such as talking animals and supernatural powers. Mystery novels are much more into detective type where a crime is solved at the end of the novel. This type of book takes a lot of research on the writer’s side as mystery novels are to be presented on a logical way trying to put pieces of information together to form a good conclusion to a case.

Nonfictions books

By the word nonfiction itself you would know that this book genre is into telling only the facts which is exactly the opposite of fiction books.  Books such as biographies and encyclopedias are just some of the known examples.  Biographies are those written based on a genuine story about a human’s life. To be specific, this type of book is written using public figures such as politicians or actors that could attract the reading public. Encyclopedias on the other hand are where all the necessary information is taken from when the internet was not yet introduced in the market. There is no make believe or sort of imaginations when it comes to encyclopedias as everything that is written in the book are all facts.

There are so many types of books that need to be explored by readers. We all are aware of the fact that each reader has a real favorite genre and author. Once in a while try experimenting also as there might be other book genres that you’d probably enjoy reading and consider as another favorite. Give other genres a chance. For all you know they are also interesting to read.
